NYT Now—Your Guide to the News app good for
Love this app and read the morning and evening update every day going to work and coming home as well as traveling and weekends. Great way to get interesting and/or key news. Easy to consume. Love!
This is really innovative and well done, I am happy to pay for the selection of high quality stories and ease if access with NYTnow. Some possible improvements: customize categories (e.g. I dont care about sports), option to invert screen color (black background with white letters is great at night), remove clutter in external articles. Great app.
All the news that’s fit to read on a phone, from the NY Times. Beautiful interface, perfect for fast catching-up or in-depth reading. The morning and evening briefing is a smart idea too.
Looks great on the iPhone 6, and a very useful app for NYT content and they curate good content from the rest of the web also. One feature that isnt working is the new iOS 8 Share extension. Anytime I click on Share and pick an option, it says "No URL found"
This is how I want my news. No endless image galleries, ads and twitter feeds. Just good writing on a white background. I gladly subscribed to this succinct format’. All publications take note.
I use it all throughout the day and its especially nice for quite moments to grab a good read. The morning and evening briefings are the best.
Some bad moments
Love the content but it has gotten so slow and choppy it is almost unusable. I am not sure what changed but it is not a change for the better.
Adding- now the app is great but the content seems to be dumbed down, tons of celebrity crap
So in china, the app works, I can read the articles, but not watch the videos. When I tap to watch a video and streaming fails because Im in china, theres no way to go back. It just hangs on a black screen. Should implement some way to go back to the previous screen if the video does not play.
I used to read this app every morning with breakfast. It provided a limited selection of New York Times content that anyone could access for free and without limit. Today, when I tried to read articles, I was told that I had already reached my limit of 10. You could easily hit that limit in one or two days. Unless youre a New York Times subscriber, this app will now be useless to you.
This would be a great app if I was paying for a subscription. Every article and briefing is filled with links to other articles that I cannot read. Instead it just shows me subscription options. It is incredibly frustrating.
This app used to be great. Recently, however, it frequently locks up while scrolling through the article list - or even while reading an article itself. And despite background refresh being enabled, the content is usually out of date when you launch the app. And when you DO launch it, the app will freeze until the refresh has completed.
I love the NY Times - the content itself is great - but as it stands today, this is not a good app.
Just downloaded. Used for 5 minutes and first rebooted my iPhone. Second time just crashed. Not good.
